Habitat's role as developer goes like this: we use custom built software, 22 years of experience in the carbon market, and 30 years of alternative investment experience to find suitable industrial sites that emit large volumes of methane gas. We contract these sites and structure project finance to purchase and install our licensed technologies which converts methane to clean energy. Each of our projects reduce between 500,000 and 700,000 tonnes of carbon and generate between 1 and 3 MW of clean energy. Habitat Enterprises makes returns on its investments of capital and time in developing projects by owning a large percentage of the energy and carbon revenues generated by its projects.

Importantly, in addition to the carbon reduction and financial returns generated by our projects, part of our return on investment comes in the form of the benefits created for the people involved on our projects in the form of job creation, local sourcing of project components, and improved economics for the industrial sites where we install our methane-to-energy plants.

Summary of our work:

• Project Development: We develop emission reduction projects throughout North and South America, under both Voluntary and CDM certifications
• Partnerships: We partner on projects to leverage our experience and proprietary project assessment tools  to provide project design and technical documentation services for various emission reduction project types in numerous industries. Typically we work under a partnership model and share in project revenues.
• Project Syndication: On selected projects and collaborations, we provide debt and equity financing services for emission reduction projects.
