Management Team

The Habitat Enterprise's team is driven by the vision of contributing to the mitigation of climate change via directing capital into and ensuring expert execution of high quality emission reduction projects. Habitat Enterprises team members have worked in the voluntary carbon markets of the USA and Canada for a variety of leading organizations including Ecosecurities, CantorCO2e, Macquarie Group, Natixis and Evolution Markets. Team members have worked directly in every major existing carbon market including the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) – a branch of the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme - in SE Asia and Latin America - and in the Joint Implementation (JI) mechanism of Eastern Europe.

Thomas Kineshanko, Chief Executive Officer: Thomas entered the carbon market as an entrepreneur in 2007 after successfully divesting Habitat Enterprises’ property portfolio, which had been in place since 1972. Thomas has successfully raised equity and debt for carbon reduction in both corporate and project finance and has worked on emission reduction projects in Australia, Asia, North America and South America - developing an expertise in greenhouse gas project identification, due diligence, finance, and structuring, as well as emissions regulation and policy. Thomas oversees Habitat’s origination, corporate structuring, and partnership building.

Valter Stoiani, Managing Director, Brazil:   Valter is an engineer and Insead MBA with over 18 years of entrepreneurial and sustainable, alternative investment experience. Most recently, Vatler lead the Natixis alternative investment-structuring desk for Asia Pacific, structuring and marketing Natixis’ specialized funds to institutional investors, and managed international carbon funds such as the European Carbon Fund and the European Kyoto Fund. As a Director of Habitat, based in Sao Paulo Brazil, Mr. Stoiani oversees project contracting, structuring, and finance in Brazil.

Robert Van Belle, Chief Financial Officer (Int.):   Rob is currently a partner at Agentis Capital. Prior to Agentis, Rob worked at Macquarie Group and the Corporacion Interamericana de Inversiones (a unit of the Inter-American Development Bank). Rob earned his MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington DC. Rob has completed buy-side and sell-side financial advisory mandates and has raised debt and equity capital for project financings in the infrastructure and industrials space of over $3.5 billion, in aggregate. Rob has also workd with management of companies following transactions he has completed. Rob has spoken at a number of conferences on project financing and maintains relationships with debt and equity sponsors active in this space. Rob resides in North Vancouver with his wife and three young (growing) children. 

Narayan Sainaney, Chief Technology Officer:   Narayan Sainaney is a technology entrepreneur and business strategist with over 15 years of expertise.  Narayan has worked on high profile products for Microsoft (Office 97, PhotoEditor), Adobe (Acrobat 4.0, Illustrator 7.0) and Aldus (PageMaker 6.5).  As an entrepreneur Narayan co-founded Mindquake Software, Digital Snaps, Vitrium Systems and Brainify.com.  He has experience in raising capital, building management teams, developing products, establishing market presence and executing sales.  As an intellectual property expert, Narayan has successfully built trademark, copyright and patent portfolios. 

Kevin Starke, Technical Director:   Kevin received his BCom degree from the University of Victoria, where he received the Medal of Excellence for having the highest academic scores of any BCom graduate.  He has previous Commerce experience throughout Europe and Canada with KPMG and Euro-Trend s.r.o, and has had work published in the field of International Policy Change. At Habitat, Kevin’s role is to analyze projects’ technical and financial data, write emission reduction documentation, and oversee North and South American operations.

Joseph Pallant, Director, Documentation (Joseph is the CEO of strategic partner, Carbon Project Solutions):   Mr. Pallant brings a strong track record in Emission Reduction Project Documentation consulting to Habitat Enterprises. Joseph authored of the world's first ISO 14064-2 reforestation methodology and participated on the first ever Afforestation and Reforestation project submitted to the United Nations, in addition to successfully completing numerous other carbon advisory projects in North America and abroad. At Habitat Enterprises, Joseph oversees emission reduction project documentation. Joseph holds a BSc and an MBA.

Dr. Svetlana Morozova (PhD), Consultant:   Dr. Morozova has 12 years of experience in the carbon market, primarily working with market leaders Ecosecurities and CantorCO2e. At Habitat Enterprises, Dr. Morozova advises on the company's origination work.

Andrew Fursman, Associate:   Over the past 10 years, Andrew has contributed to the development of Human Resources Development Canada, Quack.com, AOL Time Warner, TranslucentNetworks, The Mike Ferry Organization, 800InfoHomeLine.com, MSF Productions, NothingNetworks, and Cloudtel Communications.  Andrew has degrees in Economics, Political Science and Philosophy and is an alumnus of the Universities of Waterloo and British Columbia.

Stephane Guerraz, Associate:   Stephane is a qualified Actuary. He has a MSc. in Computer Science from Dauphine University, and an MBA from Berkeley. Stephane has 10 years work experience in capital markets and asset management, and a foray in carbon markets over the past two years. Stephane brings modeling and research acumen to the Habitat team as the company explores the best ways to structure, finance, and develop methane reduction projects.
